The
Dos & Don'ts
Before Your Wedding Day
It''s your wedding day and you want everything
to be perfect, including the way you look. This is your time
to shine and be
in the spot light, so before you run out there and do everything
you
can to look your best, take these suggestions into consideration.
The makeup and skincare tips below have been compiled from
years of experience from working with brides. These tips
are mere suggestions.
Not every bride will encounter the same problems, but it is
always better to be safe than sorry.
Skincare
Do not get a facial close to the wedding date, especially
if you don’t get facials regularly. A facial typically cleanses
the skin, bringing impurities to the surface and sometimes
causes breakouts. It is recommended that facials should be
done at least 1 ½ -2 weeks before the wedding date
so if you do get a break out, there is enough time for
the blemish
to go away.
Do not use a face mask, especially one you have never use before,
several days before the wedding. Although masks are great and
can help improve the texture of your skin, they can also cause
break outs! Clay or mud masks, especially, pull impurities from
your pores to the surface. This can cause blemishes.
Do not get any part of your face waxed close to your wedding.
Although it varies with each person, it is recommended that
a wax be done at least 1 week before the wedding. Some people
have experienced redness in the area that was waxed due to
allergic reactions. Others have experienced irritation from
the hot wax or part of their skin coming off with the wax!
The makeup will not adhere well to skin that is irritated or
burned (chemically or from heat).
"
Threading" is a method of removing hair using actual thread.
The Cosmetologist works the thread close to the face, pulling
the hair out. Examine your face closely once you are finished
to make sure that the Cosmetologist has done a thorough job and
there are no lines or rows of facial hair on your face. The lines
of hair will show up when you have foundation on because the
foundation will adhere to the facial hair. It is recommended
that you do not “thread” close to your wedding
as well. Do exfoliate your skin regularly. This helps slough off the
dead skin creating a smoother surface for the makeup. Your skin
will look brilliant and have a nice glow.
Do get into a skincare routine and moisturize your skin regularly,
even if you have oily skin. This also means using a good eye
cream. Moisturizing your skin well will prolong the acing process,
and makeup adheres well to soft, smooth, skin. Do not start a
skin care program close to your wedding date. Makeup
Do use a matte/ long wearing foundation on your wedding.
A matte foundation will last a lot longer that a regular
or sheer foundation.
Your skin may appear very “matte” at first,
but will start looking natural in approximately 30 minutes.
Do powder your neck. Most people worry about their face makeup
and forget about their neck. Powdering your neck will help even
out the neck skin tone and blend the face makeup to the neck. Do use an eyeshadow base. Eyeshadow bases work like a magnet.
It grabs onto the eyeshadow color, making the color come out
truer. It helps the shadow stay on longer and prevents it from
creasing.
Do curl your eyelashes. This will help make your eyelashes look
longer and open up your eyes.
Do practice
wearing false lashes ahead of time if you are planning
on wearing them on your wedding day. This will help
you get
used to the feel of having something foreign on your lashes
so you
don’t feel completely uncomfortable on the actual
day.
Do use
blotting papers to absorb the oils on the face before
re-touching/re-powdering your face makeup. This will
prevent your makeup from looking “caked up”. It
you want to look your best for your wedding day, plan ahead. Start
on the skincare program months
before your wedding, get facials regularly, get your makeup trial
early…Don’t wait until the last minute and expect good
results.
Hope these tips were helpful
